Republican Rep. Dana Rohrabacher lost the support of a national Realtors group after he said they should be allowed to refuse to sell houses to lesbian and gay people.

Rohrabacher made the comments to an Orange County Association of Realtors delegation in Washington, the Orange County Register reported.

IRVINE, Calif. — When some volunteers and organizers arrived Tuesday night at the University Synagogue, they found some orange and red pieces of paper on the chairs in the auditorium.

“NEGATIVE CAMPAIGN ALERT” read the paper in bold black letters. “The Dave Min campaign is running attack ads against multiple other Democrats! IS THIS WHAT ORANGE COUNTY WANTS?”

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. — As supporters for Democrat Harley Rouda chanted while cars drove by on the South Coast Highway on Sunday, Carol Nohra Crane could be heard sharing a concern with her friend: that two Republicans would advance past the June 5 primary in the 48th District.

“I think it’s all about getting the vote out, because there is a valid concern because it is a Republican district, typically,” said Crane, 54, a friend of Rouda’s who’s volunteering with the campaign. “So we just have to get out of the top two.”

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. — The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is teaming up with businessman Harley Rouda on a joint television ad two weeks before the critical California primary.

Rouda is the DCCC-backed candidate in the 48th district held by Republican Rep. Dana Rohrabacher. The ad, shared first with Roll Call, is part of a Democratic push to mobilize voters to vote in the June 5 primary.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is taking sides in a crowded California primary in the 48th District, backing businessman Harley Rouda, in an attempt to avoid a nightmare scenario of being shut out of the November ballot.

Rouda was added to the DCCC’s “Red to Blue” program on Friday, giving him additional access to committee resources. The move is also evidence that Democrats are stepping up the effort to coalesce around one candidate.

A group backing Democratic scientists running for office is launching a mail campaign to boost stem cell researcher Hans Keirstead ahead of California’s June 5 primary.

314 Action will spend $280,000 on a mail campaign to educate voters about Keirstead, a neuroscientist and CEO of a biomedical company, according to an announcement provided first to Roll Call. The mailers will drop eight times throughout May and target more than 57,000 likely voters. The campaign will also attack Realtor Harley Rouda, one of the other top Democrats in the race.

Speaking at the state party’s convention on Saturday, Walters said Democrats were working hard to win a number of House seats and take control of the chamber, “and nowhere harder than right here in California,” the Los Angeles Times reported.

Democrats continue to have an issue with crowded fields in key pickup opportunities in the Golden State, and they’re still attempting to narrow some of the fields ahead of the June 5 primary.

Blackwater founder Erik Prince will host a fundraiser for California Rep. Dana Rohrabacher as the Republican faces a tough re-election.

The fundraiser will take place at Prince’s home in Middleburg, Virginia, according to CNN. Prince, a former Navy SEAL who is Education Secretary Betsy DeVos’ brother, interned in Rohrabacher’s Capitol Hill office in 1990.
